Meet Pastor Brad
Where did you come from?
I was born in Wisconsin, raised in northeast Indiana, and studied at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois. Before coming to Southdale, I spent 15 years ministering to youth, first at a Nazarene church in Decatur, Illinois and then, most recently, at the Middletown Church of the Nazarene just up the road in Middletown, Indiana.
Tell us about your family.
My wife, Michelle, and I married in 1995. She is a registered nurse, specializing in obstetrics. We have five children, four boys and our youngest, a girl. Our children are homeschooled and each have their own unique interests and personalities.
What is your greatest passion?
To connect people with the living Word of God. I’m always reminded of the scene in John 6, when multitudes were abandoning Jesus, finding his teaching too difficult to accept. You can almost hear the disappointment in Jesus’ voice when he turns to ask his closest followers, “What about you? Are you leaving too?” Peter turns to Jesus and says “Where else would we go? You alone have the words that bring life.” Those disciples understood the life-giving, transformational power of God’s Word. I want to help others come to that same understanding.
What is your greatest struggle?
In a word, laziness. I find it very easy to be content with the status quo, yet I serve a Christ who invites us to do “even greater things than these” because we believe in Him (John 14:12).
What is your greatest fear?
Probably singing in public. Seriously. We’re talking recurring nightmares kind of fear.
